Queue Length Surveys

Queue length surveys can have a variety of technique applied and with varying data outcomes recorded.

The end analysis use of the data will dictate what form of collection is best.

The more typical application is the simple observation of recording of how many vehicles in a queue just prior to the red signal changing to green and complete this task for one or all legs on an intersection. This may also have each lane queue volume recorded.

Or where multi lanes exist, observe and record the number of vehicles in the longest queue only, or again each lane separately.

Or another variation is to have preset distance makers and record the times at which the queue meets that marker.

Where Queues do not clear on a single phase there could be the recording of the volume of vehicle remaining at start of new red phase.
